Functional entities
The entities classified as functional are as follows:
- Organization: From the systems’ perspective, organization is the entity which encompasses the business units. A practical understanding of what that means can be visualized if we think about a state government as the organization and it’s several departments and state companies as its business units. The same concept can be applied to a large multinational corporation where its several country operations/business segments can be considered as independent business units;
- Business unit: Business unit is a subset of an organization whose criteria for segmentation can be multifold (geographical, type of activity conducted etc);
- Addresses: From the system perspective addresses are all physical locations touched by the organization’s network;
- Points of presence: Points of presence are the physical locations of the business units
- Service providers: These are the companies providing telecommunications services for the organization;
- Contracts: Contracts are the contracts between the organizations/business units with the service providers, contracts have also a price list associated;
- Requests: Requests are interactions between the organizations/business units and the service providers. The organization can request new telecom resource, changes in the existing ones, canceling or maintenance;
