Technical entities
Technical entities controlled by the system are:
- Last miles:Last miles: These are the local loops connecting the address to the service provider backbone;
- Equipment - port (CPE – Customer premises equipment)
:Equipment: (Also called CPE – Customer provided equipment) is connected to the end of the last mile;
- Connections (PVC, Channels etc.)
Connections: Connections as the name states are connections between two physical locations (dedicated or switched) are composed of five elements – Equip A, last mile A, backbone, last mile B, Equip B (The use of A to B terms doesn’t mean any directional bias, the connections flow in both ways – usually);
- Service provider network (represented by the cloud):
Service Providers network
The picture bellow represents the relationship among these four elements:
As we can see in the picture above, a connection between any given location A and any other location B is composed of five elements:
- End A equipment – with or without an associated port (CPE A);
- End A last mile, which is the local loop between the address A and the service provider backbone (represented as a cloud);
- Service provider backbone (represented as a cloud)
- End B last mile, which is the local loop between the address B and the service provider backbone (represented as a cloud);
- End B equipment - with or without an associated port (CPE B).
